SSIS Data Load

  • Is there a way to be able to use one flat file connection manager to load multiple files with different file headers to corresponding tables created within the database? Or do I need to create a different file connection manager for each different type of file for mapping purposes?

When thinking about deploying the package wanted to keep the number of file connection managers an operator has to fill in if there are n different file types.

    Any suggestions?

  • There are third party Flat File connectors (I believe one of the keywords is "mutable source") but there is nothing in SSIS standard that allows for it. You either end up building your own version via Script Component Sources or you build a different source for each of the inbound formats.

  • Thank you for the information.

    I will look into that.

Based on timed constraints I just created a different file connection for each file.
