SSIS cross-domain riddle

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2008 (SP1) - 10.0.2531.0 (X64) on a virtual machine running Windows NT 6.0 <x64> sp2

I've installed a named instance of SQL Server 2008, including the SSIS components, on a virtual machine in DomainA.

I can access the SSIS installation with the local installation of SSMS when using terminal services\RDP to connect to the machine, logging on to the machine with my DomainA\username credentials.

I can access the SSIS installation from any other SQL Server Management Studio within DomainA.

What's killing me is that I can't access the SSIS installation via SSMS from any domain other than DomainA. I can, however, access the SQL Server database engine from anywhere.

The error message(s) in the pop-up window when I attempt to access the SSIS installation from any domain other than DomainA:

    Cannot connect to MachineName.

    Additional information:

Failed to retrieve data fro this request. (Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Sdk.Sfc)

Connect to SSIS Service on macine "MachineName" falied:

    Access is denied.

I've tried running the 'SQL Server Integration Services 10.0' service with a DomainA account and then as a local system account.

Please help me connect to the SSIS installation in DomainA from DomainB.

Thank you in advance for your help.

    Seth

  • Ensure you've followed the steps outlined here....

and then you may still have to muck with the dcom as noted here...

    Steve.

  • Thank you, Steve!

I, too, had seen the first link. The second link you sent did the trick.

This is a 9 year old thread. Do you have the same problem then?
