SSIS and import/export wizards

  • Guys,

I am new to SQL Server 2005. I have installed Developer edition. I want to transfer data through DTS which is now SSIS - Sql Server Integration Service I believe.

One question though how do I access SSIS, I am doing normal imports and exports using the wizards. Is there any other interface to access the SSIS??

    Please let me know

    Thanks

  • in the program group in the start menu, Business Development Intelligence Studio or BIDS

  • OR... you can go into Management Studio on the target db and goto Tasks, import data and it will present a normal import/export wizard similar to SQL 2000 wizard. The problem that I am having is that you save it and then I am foggy. It saves it in msdb but you have to goto Integration Services to see it but the part is I don't know how you can open it up to edit it. You can use BI Development Studio but i cannot figure out how to open a saved in msdb package though. It sure isn't as straightforward as SS2000 !

  • Markus,

If you find out how to do this, I'd appreciate your posting the answer here, because that is one of my big problems with this conversion.

  • Once you save the import/export package to msdb goto Business Intelligence Development Studio, goto file, open, open project solution.
