I have this weird issue where when I'm quoting someone or copying and pasting something, I try to delete (or maybe it's backspace) and for some reason the cursor moves a space forward instead of backward.
I have yet to identify the complete sequence of key strokes that leads to this, but I did want to post about it in case anyone else is having this issue.

You will just have to re-write it without a cursor 😛

Maybe it's me but trying to follow up on posts is not as intuitive as it once was. I was eventually able to find my posts under my profile but seems to me there should be a better way.

damon.witherick - Thursday, January 19, 2017 4:16 AMJeff Moden - Thursday, January 19, 2017 4:12 AMIt seems to have cleared. I say that because I did see the 500 error last night but it still let me post.@Damon,
By "Control refresh", do you mean hold down the CTRL key and press the f5 key in this case?
Hi Jeff,
Yes sorry, CTRL-F5.
Damon
Thanks - that fixed it for me

GilaMonster - Monday, January 23, 2017 3:08 AMThere seems to be something wrong with posting quotes.Works fine when I try here, but exactly the same thing doesn't work properly in another thread: https://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/FindPost1852973.aspx
Definitely something odd going on with quotes:
https://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/FindPost1853001.aspx
Based on my observations, I think this causes problems when you edit the contents of the thing you're quoting, in order to remove, say, large chunks of text that you're not replying to... I haven't yet worked out if it's dependent on the text being deleted from the beginning, the middle, or the end of the post. Yes, I know, I'm slacking.

Removing unnecessary quote information is definitely a lot harder than it used to be.

Minor nitpick, but I think this falls under the same thing that might be affecting the points count, etc. When I went to Authors -> Articles to see what changed for submission, I noticed that the Regular Columnists list has people who have submitted fewer articles than I have. How can someone who has submitted such a small number of articles be considered a regular columnist? Unless these are people who work for the site / Red Gate?

I think this is the count of editorials written, not the total article count.
(Hence the word "columnists" over "contriibutors")

Do you mind me asking what browser (and version) you're using please.
Thanks

Ah, sorry. Missed this. As with many of the other respondents above, I'm using IE 11. I can't give you a deeper level than that right now because I'm at work. I'll try to remember to post the exact release when I get home tonight.

Yup...I've been dealing with the same pretty consistently. For me, it seems to be the backspace and it's as if it leaves other characters behind, not just that moving forwards instead of back thing. I can't figure it out. I can't type a single sentence without misspelling so it's a bit of a challenge.

I just tried to reply to the word of the day thread. When I hit reply I saw an error message at the top of the screen - that happened before and I could still post so I continued, but now I got the dreaded internal server error.
Hit the back button, hit reply again. Unlike last time, my reply was not saved; I got the quote and an empty area below that.Types my reply again, posted - again the error.
Hit back once more, did a forced hard-refresh, then replied ; typed my replyl posted - worked. Except that now I appear to have posted a single message with the same content three times....
(I could edit it, but figured it might help troubleshooting to see it so I left it as is)

And here I thought that you had done it on purpose as a play on your word. 😀
