As I am sadly also fairly new to SSAS, I am currently on a project which requires some assistance in allowing users access to data in order to slice and dice data within excel.
Now I have managed to create a cube containing the relevant information required by business, however when users are working within excel and as an example an amount shows negative you are able to double click the amount and drillthrough to the detail. The problem is that users would like to see more detail i.e. invoice numbers, sales order numbers etc and not simply the data contained in the reference links.
Now, I see that using Drillthrough actions would potentially solve this problem however we are currently only using 2008 R2 Standard Edition and the use of semi-additives are restricted.
Are there any alternatives to providing the relevant non-aggregated data without having to upgrade to Enterprise Edition? Any expertise would be greatly appreciated!

I'm not exactly sure what the issue is as the drill through is of course supported in the Standard edition. Is the issue that the values on which they want to drill down calculated numbers? That would restrict the drill through, but assuming there are non-calculated numbers available to them, they could also bring those in a drill through on them. In any case, you need to provide more details.

Hi RonKyle,
Many thanks for your reply.
I have managed to resolve my issue because as you say the values I am trying to return are not calculated fields. Somthing I had to ensure is that when I create an action under the additional properties section the default field had to be set to TRUE.
Again, many thanks for your input.
