ss2k backup causes unexpected shutdown

    Has anyone ever had experience where a sql server 2000 backup would "sometimes" cause the server to unexpectedly shutdown?

    Do you have anything else running on the server like OFM(Open File manager) or  any Network intrusion detection softwares

    thanks for response. this problem is on one of our client's server.  I know they have other stuff running on that box but I don't think they installed anything new recently.  there was antivirus automatic update a few hours prior to server hanging but I didn't think that had anything to do with it.  I'd have to check.
