SQL/SVR DBA

    This position is being requested to provide for a Database Administrator for the firm's Portal Enterprise Server Support team. This is a web server environment that provides the firm content in the form of stories, photos and graphics to company members. Many of these members use the Portal web environment as their primary means for content delivery. This role will oversee all SQL servers related to these systems, maintaining a high level of quality, performance and availability. In the database administrator capacity, this person will be expected to build, support, and monitor all SQL related servers and databases. This person will be responsible for taking the lead on all SQL related issues and projects, with an ability to recommend solutions for the same. Experience as a "Production" DBA is required.

    Skill set Requirements

    · Monitor and provide constructive feedback on all existing SQL server systems

    · Act as main focal point of service delivery for all SQL related issues and projects

    · Interface with development wing of the business to coordinate business requirements in new and existing database systems.

    · Take responsibility for all SQL related servers and systems.

    · Show initiative in transferring SQL knowledge to the rest of the team.

    · Follow department standards for documents and project management.

    · Experience with mission critical, 24/7 environments required.

    · Able to work extra/off hours as the service needs dictate.

    Technical Requirements:

    Windows 2000:

    · Ability to install, configure, and maintain Windows 2000 Server and Advanced Server a plus.

    · Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS.

    · Ability to monitor and detect performance bottlenecks on Windows 2000 servers required.

    SQL:

    · Must have experience Installing, Configuring, Monitoring and troubleshooting SQL Replication.

    · Strong Experience in building, monitoring and troubleshooting SQL full text catalogs.

    · Must have extensive experience in installation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft SQL 7 and SQL 2000 Server.

    · Installation and configuration of Microsoft SQL Server in clustered configurations (Active/Passive and Active/Active).

    · Hands on aptitude with tools for monitoring SQL and Windows 2000 servers.

    · Experience implementing log shipping and utilizing SQL backups for disaster recovery.

    · Reviewing and recommending and implementing security policies and procedures.

    · Implementing system updates and patches to SQL

    · Ability to analyze queries and recommend optimizations.

    Background Requirements:

    · A Bachelors degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent work experience)

    · Strong written and verbal communication skills

    · MCDBA Certification a plus.

    · 5 years experience as a production DBA

    Must have US citizenship or Green Card. No relocation or interview expenses.

    The position is Located in Central NJ. The company will not consider remote mgmt and will not pay for relocation. Looking for someone within commuting distance to the New Brunswick area.
