This may be a SQL problem or SharePoint, I'm not sure but sometimes when a user clink on the browser to open up the company Intranet home page it will open up quickly, take over 30 seconds to open or not open at all with a message " Unexpected error has occurred" I've reorg/rebuild the SharePoint database indexes, check the log files to make sure they have enough free space. It's a sporadic event, any ideals to help pin point the issue is appreciated. Thank you.

I'd start with the web server(s). Is this a single server system or tiered application setup?

Have a look in SharePoint's ULS logs. They can be quite large but if you have correlation id or a date/time, you should be able to find what happened. SharePoint logs a whole heap of stuff about what it is doing.
The ULS Log is a text file with a format that SharePoint uses. The best way to view it is using one of the ULS Log Viewers kicking around. You will need access to the directory on the SharePoint farm where the logs are written as well. Easiest to get at if you can log on to the servers in the farm. Not sure but you may need to do this on more than one server - can't remember whether the log is on each server but I think it would be just in case there is a loss of connectivity between the servers in the farm.
