I'm running Sql server 2000 on Windows 2003 SBS server, the services "sqlserveragent" and sqlagent$sbsmonitoring" starts, and then stops immediately.
I cant use my Enterprise Manager because it says i don't have connection to the local server, and that i should check the registration.
The registration is correct, and when trying to create a new registration, there's no server to choose from.
The funny thing is that the workstation's connecting to the databases, work fine!
The big problem is that because of all this, the backups ain't running
Please can someone help me !!!
Thanks in advance

When you say EM won't connect, is this from your workstation or the server console?
Have you checked the SQL Server error log and the Windows event logs for errors?

The EM is from the server console
The event viewer error that I get is:
SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: Unable to connect to server '(local)'; SQLServerAgent cannot start).
And when I try to start the Service, it says that "it started and then stoped, and that some services stop automatically if they have no work to do, like performance logs and alert services"

Is your MSSQl service running properly. Also this is the only instance running on this. Try to connect in the EM using the servername instaed of local.
Are you able to connect to the server through the queryanalyser?

Everything is running fine, all the services except the above 2, MSSQL IS RUNNING FINE
I can't connect using the servername instead of the local, because it cant find it.
When trying to connect to sql via a workstation with queryanalyser it works great
I can get full access to my databases via another computer except with my server's EM

Thisi ssurely a permission problem. u can see that u can't login to the server. check for the permissions starting the agent service. also check if the account has accesss to the database server.
