I have two servers, one is a Dell and the other is a Compaq. Each one is running W2K SP3 and Sqlserver 2000 SP3. I start the MSSQLSERVER and SQLSERVERAGENT with the same domain/administrator account on both machines. I reboot these machines once a week. The Dell server comes up every time with no errors, and the services start up just fine. The Compaq comes up and the SQl Services fail to start every time. Even though they are set to automatic, I must go in to each service, re-type my password, and start the services manually. What gives? I have been over both of these servers trying to find out what the problem is. Do I have some wrong setting specified on the Compaq server for Sqlserver??? Please help!!!

Does your ID (using to start SQL Server Serivces) a Local Profile on Compaq machine nad Roaming profile in Dell machine?
Just a thought. Have seen similar errors with locally stored profiles.

Thanks for your response. No, the profiles are the same for both servers.
