If I view the error log through SQLServer EM I see error
messages. If I view the actual file that SQLServer writes
to, not all the messages appear. It appears as if
SQLServer caches the messages. Has anyone seen this or
know a way to force SQLServer to write the messages to the
actual file?
Thanks Doug

I'd wager that the messages you are referring to are in the NT event logs, most likely the Application event log.

No not at all. SQLServer error messages. If you look at the SQLServer Enterprise's SQl Log messages, I see warnings. If I look at the actual text file that SQLServer writes to (see your startup parameters for the SQLServer to obtain file name) it is not up to date with what I see in the SQLServer Enterprise SQL Log.
