Sqlserver 2000 DTS designer components are required to edit the dts packages. Install the special web download "SQLSERVER 2000 DTS Designer Components " to use this package

    Hello,

    we have n number of dts packages, it has to be migrated from dts to ssis.

    we have installed sqlsever 2008 standard edition,sqlserver 2005 backward compatability and sqlserver 2000 dts designer components. Then we would transfer

    the dts package from sourceserver(sql 2000) to destination host(sqlserver 2008).

    That dts packages comes under Management studio--> Management-->legacy-->dts.

    If i opened that dts packages. it shows the below error message.

    "Sqlserver 2000 DTS designer components are required to edit the dts packages. Install the special web download "SQLSERVER 2000 DTS Designer Components " to use this package.

    But we have installed the dts designer components already. Still the error came.

    I would really appreciate, If anybody helps me to resolve this issue.

    Hi,

    All the components has been installed in the server itself and dts to ssis migration doing in server only.

    If the DTS designer components have been installed for the backward compatibility, you need to register some dll files(can't recall which file) and then reboot the server. Try rebooting the server first and see if that fixes the issue.
