Additionally, you receive the following message in the Windows Installer dialog box together with a Use source box:
If you locate the Sqlncli.msi file on the SQL Server 2005 installation media and then click OK, you receive the following error message:
This problem may occur when all the following conditions are true:
• | You have Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 1 (SP1) installed. |
• | The Sqlncli.msi file that you specify in the Use source box is the version of the Sqlncli.msi file from the original release version of SQL Server 2005. |
<script type=text/javascript>loadTOCNode(1, 'cause');</script>
You receive error message 2 because the SQL Server Native Client you are trying to modify or reinstall is the SQL Server Native Client that is installed by SQL Server 2005 SP1. However, the SQL Server Native Client that you specify in the Use source box is the SQL Server Native Client from the original release version of SQL Server 2005.
