Hello all,
I need your help with this issue I'm having...I recently installed SQL 2005 on one of my servers. After the installation, I have noticed the following error whenever I go into Computer Management and try to open up Services:
Fatal Error. Execution Cannot Continue as the Language Dependent Resource File C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn\Resources\1033\sqlmmc.rll could not be loaded.
Once I click Ok, the Services contents are displayed and everything works fine. I tried rebooting the box but that did not help. Does anyone know what this error means and how to remove it? Your help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Lynn

Did you have SQL 2000 on this computer ?
I ask because the file .rll path references '80'.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the SQL 2005 Client Components ?
Are thery any messages in the Windows System or Application event logs that correspiond to the exact time of the faiklure ?
Please advise ...

This error seems to be cropping up all over the place. I too, have a SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 upgrade see this "fatal error" upon a successful upgrade.
Impacting the customer to uninstall and reinstall isn't an option.

Update to my earlier post...I found the offending key in the registry, made a backup of it (exported the entire key), then deleted the key in the registry.
All works well. Apparently when the upgrade occurred, it didn't clean the registry entries.
