sqlmaint.exe failed

    Hi Every one,

    I frequently got this error "sqlmaint.exe failed. [SQLSTATE 42000] (Error 22029). The step failed" on one of the server at backup job running time (12:30:00 AM). Job history show job failed, but backup files are available on backup folder. How to solve this problem?

    So are you sure that it was the backup set of the job that failed? Have you checked the SQL Server Error log to see if there were any other errors reported about the backup.

    Also have you checked the validity of your backup file?

    Instead of checking job history check the maintenance plan history for more details; it might be working for some database but failing for others.

    Other issue might be databases that were selected for backup were removed but the plan didn't get updated.
