It sounds odd. But what is the exact reason why only 8 users can connect to SQL6.5 running on Win2K Pro? Before there were 100 users when it was running under WinNT. For reasons I can't fathom, they transfered the SQL6.5 from NT to Win2K Pro. Pls help. Thanks

Check the licensing, maybe set to per connection. Can more than 8 connect to the server, or just not to SQL?

I believe the NT WK and Win2K Pro have a 10 user connection limit. There may be 2 system type processes eating up the other two conenctions.

Yes, Win2K Pro has the same 10 user connection limit that NT Workstation has.
