I have a box with SQL 7.0. I am planning to load a named instance of SQL 2000 on the same box. Will this cause any problems? Any specific precautions I should take during the install? Thank you for your help!

I have one development box running the same. No issues. Infact I have installed this last week. I have installed 7.0 as default to D:\MSSQL7\, then SQL Server 2000 Names Instance to D:\MSSQL2000\MSSQL\. NO Issues so far.
Does any one have any issues?

Been running this config in Dev for ages, no issue's at the server.
Do note that older MDACs pre 2.6 (???) cannot easily reference a Named instance. That was the only problem we found.

Thank you, guys, for the helpful input.
With regard to the MDAC issue, it may make things complicated. My test server is on a cluster. According to Microsoft: 'MDAC 2.6 or Later Should Not Be Installed on SQL Server 7.0 Clusters'.

If pre 2.6 MDACs have problem talking to a named instance, what would be a good workaround, if there is any?
