SQL2K and Kerio Personal Firewall - access violation??

  • Hi!

I'm evaluating the Kerio Personal Firewall and it worked like a charm

until I tried to start my local instance of SQL Server 2000 SP4. I got

an access violation and then SQL Server shut down itself before I

could do anything. After uninstalling Kerio, the SQL Server worked

    like before.

I've used Kerio v4.2.0 on Windows XP Pro SP1.

  • I have Kerio, but not on the same PC with SQL Server, so I don't know what settings are necessary to avoid this problem, but it should be possible. If you have evaluation vesion, it could be a problem though, I'm not sure how much you can configure it manually. When you have the full version, you can configure everything manually - and my guess is that the culprit is SQLS starting various services at startup. If you know what services are being started, you should be able to allow them in Kerio. No guaranty however, hopefully someone will read this who really has some experience with this combination on the same PC.
