Is it possible to set up a 4 node cluster with 3 sql instances using
SQL2005 Standard edition.
I understand that SQL 2005 will only support two node clustering
(failover) under standard edition so what I plan to do is:
Primary Node Failover node
Instance 1 B A
Instance 2 C A
Instance 3 D A
Where node A will also be the configured to be the primary cluster
owner.
Is this setup possible?
Also, is it possible to license each instance differently? Two of the
instances will be internal only and licenced by CAL, but one instance
is accessible extenally and will require per-CPU licencing.

To what i understand based on the SQL 2005 roadshow is that u can have only 2 nodes. By your description it shows 3 nodes which is not supported. Even if it menas 2 nodes, i don't think microsoft would support your configuration. Just my 2 cents.
Cheers,
Babu.
