SQL2000 v SQL 2005?

  • Could someone please tell me any other related sites other than Microsoft that will give me comparisons between SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005? This is because a partner which my company use have not done any testing on SQL 2005 and they are saying it will be a risk.

Thank You for your help in advance

  • In what ways are they saying it will be a risk? You can take the .mdf and .ldf files straight from a SS2K box and re-attach them to a SS2K5 box without an issue (other than wanting to re-run statistics) so I am curious what their objections could be...

  • It's new and it's untested on their product. That's always a risk, though in the case of SQL Server 2005 it's probably a low one.

To the original poster, out of curiosity, though, why is Microsoft off the list? That's probably the best site since it is their product and they have a vested interest in telling you what has changed so you'll buy 2005...
