Does anyone have some simple steps I can follow, I did some reading and discovered that database backup and recovery is the best way, also recoving the master, msdb, and the model then the rest of the databases is a good solution. Please help

What's the question?
Are you looking to move from 2000 to 2005?
You cannot restore master/msdb/model from 2000 to 2005, They are different formats. you can restore the database backups.
Read here (http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms144245.aspx) and decide if you want to do inplace or side by side upgrade. Then please ask specific questions if there is something you don't understand. There are lots of articles on the basic upgrade process, so it's not really useful to repeat all that here.
