Well, well. After digging and digging to get all the information I could find about doing an inplace upgrade from 2000 to 2005, running the UA, addressing issues, I finally get to backup and try the install when I get stopped dead. Whoever before me set this server up used developer editions of both SqlServer2000 and Reporting Services. The SQLServer 2005 Standard install stopped me cold and said I can't do that (upgrade from 2000 developer to 2005 standard).
Looks like my only option other that a server rebuild is to upgrade to 2005 developer and then 2005 standard, which, according to the chart, is allowed.
Has anyone tried "upgrading"/installing Sql2000 standard on an SQL2000 developer installation?

When the server is being rebuilt then why do you go for developer edition of 2005 and then standard you can directly install standard edition right.

I think you misread what I typed - I said "OTHER than rebuilding"...
Obviously if I have to rebuild, I will not install developer at all.
Thanks,

Here's a thought - would this work?
- Detach the databases
- Unload/remove/delete SQL2000 Developer
- Install SQL2005 Standard
- attach databases
Thanks,
Trent
