SQL2000 analysis services and SQL2005 cluster

  • Look for assistance on installing SQL 2005 in a Windows 2003 (64 bit) Cluster and install SQL2000 analysis services in the same cluster (only one database in the cluster). Nothing I have tried far has worked. I am thinking I may have to install SQL2000 first, and then upgrade the DB engine only to 2005.... Does anyone think that will work?

    Thanks,

  • Jane, I should point out that SQL 2000 analysis services is not cluster aware. 2005 analysis services is so perhaps you should go straight for that.

the following article expalind how to install SQL2000 analysis services on a cluster.

As you will see its no fun.

  • Jane,

As another point you cant process any AS2000 OLAP objects form a SS2005 SSIS package.

  • why not just use SQL 2005 AS?

  • I know this sounds silly, but we are installing a 'vendor' application, and the environment has to be as follows:

    Microsoft .Net framework version 2.0

    SQL Server 2005.....

    SQLServer2005_BC.msi

SQLServer2005_dts.msi... and so on... and then the big one:

MS Analysis Services 2000 (for OLAP Server) with Service Pack 4

it is pretty messed up, because we installed 2005 in a 64 bit environment, and now I can't install the 2000 analysis services.

    still bummed out....

  • sql 2000 had a 64bit version, but not sure if there there was a 64bit AS for sql 2000

if your PHB does not buy another machine, be sure to thank him/her for choosing this app
