With Yukon supporting the .NET framework, it's not the applications with code in different languages talking to SQL Server that bothers me so much as it is the fact that developers will be able to write stored procedures in the language of their choice as opposed to just T-SQL.
This isn't that big of a concern if developers stick with mainstream languages such as VB.NET or C# or even Java, but there is a COBOL for .NET and I think I've heard of FORTRAN as well. There are quite a few people building the proper components to allow just about every language to work in the .NET framework. Case in point, a whitepaper from Fujitsu about their COBOL for .NET:
