Good day,
I'm trying to gauge the impact of running SQL Trace. All that I've read indicates it is less resource intensive than using Profiler. But nowhere can I find the associated process it runs under - is it just running under the sqlservr.exe process?
Thanks!

i have this saved, because it is a great resource for determing the minimal impact that a trace incurs:

To the best of my knowledge it runs in the SQLServer.exe process. The link Lowell posted is a good resource. Here is another link[/url] about why Profiler is more resource intensive.

Thanks guys. Good reads.
Also, the more I pondered this it occurred to me that since SQL Trace uses stored procedures, that implies that it would run in the sqlservr.exe process.
