SQL terminology

  • i'm trying to analyses and simplifies the DBMS terminology to get a clear idea of it.

what "Performance" means in database terms?

what ways in which you can measure DB performance?

what is Transactions Per Minute (TPM) and how does it work in SQL?

    Thank You

  • Man, you're asking a lot of *very* broad questions. Don't you think it is better, to surf the homepages of the RDBMS you're interested in?

It is better to read freely available information first and then coming back with more specific questions. Remember, that we all are here voluntarily and don't get paid for. I guess noone would be willing to give a such detailed introduction to databases as your recent questions here indicate. I'm afraid, but you'll have to do some work on your own. TANSTAAFL.

See if this will get you started with TPM: http://www.tpc.org/

  • Well i actually did do some research about that but i don't seem to find lots of it. otherwise i would not be asking for help...

but thank you for you all anyway

  • I think what Frank is getting at is that a simple, http://www.google.com/search?q=database+performance would provide a lot of background information that might, or might not, answer your question.

However, after your initial research you'll be able to ask a specific question about the areas you don't understand. The above search return over 100 hits so obviously that's more than "lots of it"
