Money is tight and I need to install SQL Server to support SharePoint in a DMZ.
Microsoft has just released MSDE 2000 Release A of which they say
"MSDE is an ideal solution for:
Client applications that require an embedded database.
Basic websites that serve up to 25 concurrent users.
New developers who are learning how to build data-driven applications."
This SharePoint site would support 20 to 30 users.
What would be the down side of using MSDE rather that SQL standard for SharePoint?

The downsides of MSDE used to be that it wouldn't run more than 5 concurrent queries and it would degrade performance. Also no tools included with it, but this new release seems to have lifted the 5 person limit.
