I installed sql server 2008 express- 64 Bit on Vmware Virtual Machine with w2k8, standard -64 bit as guest operating system, although installation took place successfully, still i can not see any sql services listed under running services, i checked this out while i was not able to connect to SQL server via management studio, any idea what's going on?

Even i installed SQL Server 2008 in 64 bit, but if i connect to the server, its showing the error like "some database is taking backup and restore" and all the status are pass but system restart is Fail. any idea to solve this problem?

just to clarify, you checked conf. manager > sql server services and there are no service types there?!
