SQL Service Manager v8 error 1068

  • Morning all,

Arrived in work this morning to find that our UPS shipping software, which is sql/database dependent, refused to connect to our DB for the information.

A little investigation revealed that the MSSQL and Agent services needed were not running.

When I tried to run the MSSQL service, it promptly stopped again and said there was nothing for it to do, so i tried to manually run the agent service and it complained the service it was dependent on refused to start, with error 1068.

I've already tried doing a system restore, thinking an automatic update may have killed it, the only user account on that particular machine is the Administrator so no issues there (using WinXP Pro), and just to be sure i've checked the log on tab for each service to ensure they were using local account, i've even tried giving them desktop access and a direct log on for the already-in-use administrator account, nothing works!

If anyone has experienced this before i'd appreciate some assistance as we can't get any of our packages shipped out until it's resolved!

    Thanks!

    Barry

  • Thanks Rich,

I already tried that, to no joy.

Even the NetLogon service is correctly set to manual and won't run without a dependent service.
