Hi,
Can anyone point me towards any documnets about Sybase? I dont know much about it and want to get a better feeling for it.
Is Sybase a good way to go for the future?
Most of my skills are in SQL server is it a good move to go into Sybase?
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I think you can download SQL Anywhere for free.
And though I can't say, whether Sybase has a future, it's always good to know more than one product.

Sybase is a good product especially for financial environement,a better payment for a DBA,the transition from MSSQL is not so difficult, but need good Linux(Unix) skills.

They both use T-SQL and SQL Server was ported from Sybase v4.2, but that was a long time ago. SQL Server 7 was a complete rewrite and while T-SQL was preserved, I'd bet they have both diverged with regard to that.
I do not see that many Sybase jobs relative to the big 3 + MySQL, but it is definitely still being used in many places.

I have heard that the Sybase cert is a real bear compared to the MS cert, but once you're certified, it's gravy train time.
FWIW.
