Running a query from SSMS against an Oracle 9i Linked Server on this developers desktop everything works correctly. He then uses Remote Desktop to connect to the SQL Server box and using SSMS he gets this error. He is using the same Domain acct to remote in as he used to logon to his PC
Server: Msg 7399, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
OLE DB provider 'MSDAORA' reported an error.
[OLE/DB provider returned message: Unspecified error]
[OLE/DB provider returned message: ORA-01041: internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist
]
OLE DB error trace [OLE/DB Provider 'MSDAORA' ICommandText::Execute returned 0x80004005: ].
Other are having no problems when remoted in.
Thanks for your help.

Since it's just his account, and only when RD into the server, I suspect a permissions or account configuration issue. Maybe something in the HKEY_CURRENT_USER portion of the registry.
I'm not familiar with Oracle connections, and when I searched that error message it came up with a whole bunch of "the database was shut down incorrectly" type data, so I'm kind of shooting in the dark. But the data you gave about it working from a local desktop, and for other RD users, but not for the one RD account, makes me think that it's something associated with the profile or security.
