Sql Server Reporting Services

  • We have baught a windows application from a vendor and its reports work via SSRS

I'm an administrator and i have no problem starting it.

Normal users cannot start it, they haven't any problem in the application. But when they choose for reports it gives:

The permissions granted to user "Domain\UID" are isufficient for performing this operation.

Aurtorisation on DB's at sql level or the SSRS AD groups doesn't seem to work.

    Any idea's?

    Thanks.

    Kind regards,

    André

  • The SQL Server Reporting Services application has its own security model that is separate from any database access. The database access still has to be there, and you'll see how each report accesses the back-end databases by looking at the report's Data Source. But each folder and report has its permissions. That's probably where you're getting the security error from. Here's your starting point:

    BOL: Reporting Services Security

  • Thanks. I found the SSRS report webservice and i did the following things:

    - changed sql server service user to a domain svcUser.

    - Authorized the user groups to my reports.

    - Authorized my sql server user to the SSRS groups on the server.

    - Authorized the user groups for connection with the database.

    It works.
