Hi,
Anyone got a link or is hosting the older 2008 R2 enterprise evaluation version, I need to load up an emergency test environment, only seem to be able to get 2012 from MS links.
Found this: http://download.microsoft.com/download/D/0/B/D0B2C565-4966-4663-976D-CAE8262F1844/SQLFULL_X64_ENU.EXE but it is not the R2 version , just the standard 2008, I need the same file but for R2.
Thanks
Matt

Hi, thanks for that, but the end result is still pointing you at 2012.
I am 99% sure you cannot get it from MS, you can get 2008, but not 2008 R2, which is odd.
I'm really looking for somewhere else where it is hosted, or someone who has managed to keep a copy.

Yep, that's the same link I provided. Curious why he said it wouldn't work for him? It redirected me to a 2008 R2 link just fine. Maybe something that is regional depending on where your IP is coming from?

The first time I clicked on your link and pushed the [download] button I also ended up on the SQL2012 page. Then I searched in Google, followed up on the results and came with the same URL to the right spot.
Aah... the mystery of internet :w00t:

Hi Guys,
Thanks for spending your time with this.
What happens when you actually click the download from http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=8158 ?
I get a 3kb html file that contains instructions with more links to the ISO and EXE files. However, they just all link to: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/evalcenter/default.aspx which only contains 2012 ?????

It's getting very weird. Now I also can't download the requested file (executable) anymore and get directed to SQL2012.
Try this one: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6362 (choose the 'register and download' link.)
P.S.: when I start downloading the X86 file it re-directs me to SQL2012, but when I start downloading the x64 I'll get the executable...

If its for an emergancy test environment you might be able to get away with a Developer edition of SQL server.
Or if anyone has been on a MS sql server course, or got the training guides that might have a 120 day evaluation version of enterprise.

That brings up a good point. Do you or your organization have a TechNet account? You can get Enterprise Edition from there as well. Alternatively you can get Developer Edition if you have an MSDN account.

Hi, Short answer, no. Although we use MS products, I wouldn't class us as the beta testing kind. We usually wait for at least one SP on any given product, and we can usually code test on Express versions, this time though I am looking at load testing, and Express, or probably even developer, doesn't give me the scope.

Very kind of you to post. I think this is 2008, rather than 2008 R2.
