I have a SQL Server 2005 box that needs an additional processor. We're coming on-line with a SharePoint implementation and my SQL Server processor utilization is way up. So, my plan was to by one additional SQL per processor license and throw an additional processor in there.
However, I've never done this before. When this box was originally installed, it was installed as a single processor license (single proc but dual core). Is SQL going to be upset when I add the processor? I'll officially have a license for it but the installation wouldn't know that. At the same time, sql probably can tell the difference between two dual core processors and a single quad core - so maybe SQL Server just doesn't care.
Wasn't sure if there was someone out there that has expanded a server and knows the answer.
Thanks in advance. RH

I haven't had a problem with it.
