Hi...recently all the data in my laptop got busted from virus...So, I lost all the software including SQL Server. Now I m planning to get a new copy of SQL server 2005 to my laptop. So please suggest me which version I should get and how much that costs to me?? I m gonna use it just for practice...
Thank You...

It depends on what you want to practice. If you just want base T-SQL then get Express w/ Advanced Services, if you want SSRS, SSIS, or advanced features get Developer Edition (includes all the functionality of Enterprise).

I believe the Developer Edition for SQL 2008 is only $50. That's not a bad investment if you want all the feature, as long you're not using it for "Production".

oh gr8....Thank you very much.....and can we use that cd multiple times or only for one time installation?? and does it have any expiry date like 1 year??

You can install the developer editions as many times as you want, as long as it's only being used by one user for development or demonstrations. You cannot install it on 2 computers used by different people.
The express edition is free and can be installed for use by multiple people.
