SQL SERVER MAil

  • i had sql server agent job scheduled on sql server 2008r2 enterprise. We had configured database mail and

mail profile was enabled in sql server agent too. Usually we r getting notified through emails when job fails.

But today i did not get email when job fails. What is the reason for not getting only today.

In the view history of the job it says mail was sent.

  • The mail being sent just means it was put on the queue. Have you checked the db-mail error log? Also have you checked your Exchange server to see if the e-mail went through. There are a lot of places along the way where the e-mail can fail. I've even found my e-mails in the Junk folder occasionally when Exchange desides that's where it belongs.

Have you subsequently sent a test e-mail to check that e-mails are now getting through?

    Cheers

Nothing in life is ever so complicated that with a little work it can't be made more complicated.
