The only setup log files I know of are the ones generated during installation. Those are Windows Event logs.

Nice question, thanks. And quite easy.
I remember SQL writes to the security event log because I remember having to jump through hoops to allow SQL Server to write to it; have seen hordes of SQL stuff in the application event log, and used sql info in the system event log now and again to help diagnose errors. So I knew what the anser had to be. But I hoped that the explanatin would teach me what this "set event log" is, and refer me to some documentation that at least mentions to it.
No such luck; the explanation mentions some exam that I would probably have to pay through the nose to waste my time looking at it, has nothing I would call a reference (like a URL or a URI or a proper citation) and says absolutely nothing helpful. So not a nice explanation at all.
