I have to admit I only got it right because I've never seen a Setup Event Log before. Is this something new in Windows Server 2008? - it's not on any of our dinosaurs.

Not so much a guess for me as process of elimination -- I have had to make use of the other three constantly as a DBA, so that was the only one left that could be the answer.

Ditto (and the name "Setup Log" somewhat limits its intended purpose, so one hopes that M$ programmers don't log non-setup issues there :-)).

Great question. I knew the answer because of work with our TFS server.

It some things you have to look at event logs of a TFS SQL Server to find.
