Hi,
I have a 2 node SQL Server 2012 / Windows Server 2012 R2 cluster and I'm having an issue when I failover between nodes. These are VMs running on an ESX cluster across boxes.
The SQL Server resource has 5 shared disks (RDMs) and when we failover, one or more of the disks is not brought online on the secondary node. The number of disks and which disks is random each time. The information tab for these offline disks reads "The requested resource is in use".
If I manually bring the resources online, everything works like a charm.
Does anyone have any ideas why this could be happening?
Thanks.

Hi DBANewbie,
Are all the cluster disks and associated virtual controllers setup according to these guidelines from VMWare? I've seen clusters in VMWare go whacky if everything isn't configured absolutely the same on all VMs and hosts. Barring that, is there anything in the ESXi logs that might explain why certain disks aren't coming online? You may want to check on getting support from VMWare if you find anything there.

where is the storage presented from?
have you checked the LUNs are properly exposed to both ESX hosts
