Hmm, you left me hanging here, Grant. Came on over expecting to get my learn on, and then got smacked with a "Coming Soon."No worries, here, though - I'm sure it will be worth the wait! Now to try and remember to check the page later.
Sorry, not sure why they did that. I'll see what can be done.

No credit belongs to the person who send out this misleading email:"Free eBook: SQL Server Execution Plans, Second Edition"
And you can quote me on that one!
My time is my life / my life is my time. If you waste my time you are to a degree committing murder. Albeit by the salami (slice) method. By sending out an email promising something that is not available (yet) is at best being misleading. In my youth we used to call this vapour-ware or cripple ware. Not the real deal but sexy enough to make you look. I can only speak for myself but I am seriously annoyed.
You are under absolutely NO obligation to provide ANYTHING for FREE. Not even my lunch or the time of day. But you are under obligation to be truthful or at least discourage others not to be misleading your behalf.
I feel mislead and I'm cross. Am I alone I wonder.
My apologies. It's just some sort of mistake. We'll get it fixed. No one is intentionally trying to fool you or anything.

No worries! I was just giving you a little good-natured ribbing. I mean, if you're offering something for free, I can't exactly complain, now can I?

All,
Sorry for the false alarm everyone. As Grant says, there was no intent to miselad here; it was just a mistake on our part, for which we apologize. The article advertising the eBook's availability just went out earlier than we originally thought it was going out.
The eBook is there now and available to download from http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/books/94937/.
Best,
Tony.

I appreciate what sqlservercentral provided to the sql community and all these greatest sql books red gate/authors provided for free.
I also do not think sqlservercentral/red gate should really honor the eailer release than planned.

Thanks Grant, looking forward to reading this.

All,
The PDF is now also available from the main book page:
http://www.sqlservercentral.com/articles/books/94937/
The code is now available from the URL listed in the book:
http://www.simple-talk.com/RedGateBooks/GrantFritchey_SQLServerExecutionPlans_Code.zip
Apologies again for the slight false start here, but I hope you all enjoy the book. If you do have any feedback on the content we'd love to hear it, as Grant is soon to start work on the third edition, which will be a major update, and cover all new aspects of Execution Plans in SQL Server 2012.
Cheers,
Tony.

For anyone that judges a book by the stars on the article that introduces it, pay no attention to the paltry 3 stars. That was due just to a mixup on when the article was released and when the electronic versions actually became available. This is a 5-Star MUST READ book! I did an indepth review on Grant's first edition on the subject and this second edition update is frosting on the cake.
The ebook/PDF is nice but if you don't have this one on a physical shelf, you're missing out.
Heh... and, no... I'm not a RedGate employee and I'm not Grant's long lost cousin! 😛 It's just a great book and it'll make you a better DBA or better SQL Developer.

+5 stars ( and that's just because that is the maximum supported over here ) :hehe:
Well said, Jeff :w00t:
