I have an in-house application we have been using for about 5 years that we install on the laptops in our vehicles that use a version of SQL Express on the laptops to store local data. The connection information has contained in a connect string in .NET code. We are moving to the next generation of laptops, and when I try to install SQL Express (2005 or 2008), I get SQL Server does not meet strong password requirements error and my installation is halted (password is in the format password01, 8 character alpha numeric). I've never had a problem before, even on previous Windows 7 machines. To change the password would require recompiling some code and then manually installing the software updates in our service trucks (or maintaining multiple versions of the software). Anybody know whta might be causing this/how I get around it? Thanks.
