SQL Server Developer Edition

  • Hello All,

I have question regarding sql server 2005 licensing.

I am setting up a shared sql server 2005 development environment and as a result the company is purchasing the relevant developer CALS for each developer. However I need to limit the features available in development to those of the Standard Edition and was wondering whether I can install Standard as long as the development servers are used for just that and not production?

Any ideas? If you happen to know could you point me in the direction of any MS documentation?

    Thanks in advance

    Chris

I would think the answer is no, but I am not sure of that. You might get away with it since the server is being used for development, but I don't know for sure. Only Microsoft can tell you for certain if that would be breaking the rules or not.
