TEKsystems in Oklahoma City is looking for a MS SQL Server DBA for a key client for a contract-to-hire project. Since this position is not posted on the company's website, here are the details:
Education:
Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or related field or equivalent work experience required. MCDBA, MCSA.
Job Duties:
Primary support for managing and administering a SQL Server 2000 environment, and secondary responsibility as a systems requirements developer in a standard development life cycle environment. Under limited direction, work closely with various domain subject matter experts (SME), end users and software development team members to review business requirements and jointly define system requirements, being the primary author of the functional specifications (Technical Specifications Document). Must be able to research, analyze and articulate business rules, business and system use cases, and business object and logical data models. Forward-engineer those deliverables into a physical database design, assigning keys, establishing relationships, creating indices, and providing performance tuning as necessary. Should be an experienced, highly self-motivated, quick and creative thinker who excels at gathering and honing customer product requirements; turning the requirements into a physical database schema; and managing the resulting environment. Should be comfortable working as part of a team with the ability to be Team Lead/Project Manager when necessary.
Required Skills:
* Demonstrable experience in conducting requirements workshops using formal and informal methodologies.
* Ability to capture business object models, data models and identify metadata using data analysis concepts, techniques, and standards.
* Demonstrable ability to ensure alignment of system requirements with actual business processes to ensure user satisfaction and software product success.
* Establish consistent data element definitions; define metadata standards and environment to support metadata collection.
* Analyze and design physical databases and their definitions.
* Establish policies and procedures for data security, maintenance, data warehouse modeling and utilization in the development, testing, and production environments.
* Working knowledge of DDL, DML, TSQL, stored procedures, triggers, views, constraints and cursors.
* Provide schema definition, XML and data transfer rules, normalization and renormalization.
* Advanced knowledge of SQL Server automation using DTS packages and Job Scheduling.
* Proficiency with SQL Server performance tuning and scalability analysis.
* Ability to troubleshoot database problems using SQL profiler.
* Design replication infrastructures and implement Disaster Recovery solutions.
* Strong problem solving and conceptual thinking abilities.
* Excellent written/verbal communication and documentation skills.
* Able to work independently and deliver high quality results when given a set of objective requirements.
Preferred Skills:
* Knowledge of Windows 2000/2003 Architecture (MCP, MCSA, MCSE).
* Knowledge of Compaq / HP hardware.
* ASP /ASP.NET Development.
* VB 6.0/ VBScript/.NET.
Candidate will be on contract for 6 months and then be converted to a full-time employee.
