This is certainly an interesting topic, but the article seemed to focus a bit much on story telling and seemed a bit light on the actual technical information of how someone else could create an alert.

Frankly, I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who has to fight demons to get something working in SQL Server. Too many of their instructions leave out critical steps. And, having had most, if not all, of these issues, I now feel like it's worth my time to try again to make WMI work. Thank you for the article.

"clear as mud" made me laugh my head off remembering the awesome SSRS errors I was getting in one of my past lives.
Or even better, the Crystal Reports ones from Visual Studio (i.e. "An error has occurred")
Great story and hopefully it saves the next guy from going through the same situation.

Have to agree, it would have been nice if there had been more on creating the WMI alert. Others (like me) may have benefitted from the information.
