I am a Oracle DBA with 8 years of experience. I have been working with SQL Server now for the last 1 year. We are now placing a critical system on high availability and SQL Server failover clustering is to be implemented.
I have no idea whatsoever, how to do this? I have been allowed the option of going on a training course but i have no idea of what course to go on, i imagine my experience level to be intermediate (not sure though).
Are there any courses/institute you could recommend to me in the UK or anywhere else in Europe?
Thanks in advance.

I can't recommend a training vendor but you should try to find the course, Microsoft SQL Server High Availability 2005. I took the course last year, taught by Michael Hotek, and it really delivered the goods. Besides SQL Server clustering, it covers database mirroring, log shipping, partitioning, database snapshots, and replication.

Are you just having to support the SQL Server or the SQL Server + OS w/ Cluster?

Thanks Greg for the reply. I shall find out if they are offering the course in the near future.
Brain, I am having to support only SQL Server and not the OS. There is a separate team that takes care of the OS, makes our life a little easier.

For the most part, then, SQL Server support on a cluster isn't very different than on a stand-alone server. When you get to applying service packs and hotfixes you'll need from your cluster administrators but day-to-day operations are unchanged except if you need to restart SQL Server, etc., in which case you'd typically do that through cluster administration and not Enterprise Manager. Other than that, if you can Hotek's training, that should be great for your team. I've only heard good things about Michael Hotek. Unfortunately, I've never had the pleasure of taking a course from him.
