Then i have started installing SQL 2K Enterprise edition on the primary node 1, i have created Server Alias as per the KB article (815431). But during the installation after giving the virtual IP address --> Next, the setup got stuck and task manager it is showing 'enterprise edition not responding'.

  • In your %windir% directory there should be a file sqlstp.log. Can you post the last ten lines or so from that log? Please make sure that you clean up any identifying information that may be sensitive to your company.

  • Did you change the environment variables to C:\Windows\Temp or C:\Temp? Both the machine as user variables. Total of 4 before installing.

This solved some setup issues for me.

  • LAST FEW LINES FROM SQLSTP.LOG

  • It seems that the setup is not seeing the shared disk resources. Can you please mention how you have the disk resources configured ?

  • The disk is from Hitachi storage box(SAN),

and i am able to access the disk from primary node in which i am installing the sql 2K EE.

I have copied the SQL 2K installation files from CD and put in Z drive (shared disk in which i am planning to install Database files and log files)

  • Hi, the explanation is pretty simple; read the Microsoft article KB2893788, that basically says:

If one of the available shared disks in the Cluster has the same resource name as its resource group, the setup stops responding while enumerating the available shared disks in the cluster.

    Have a nice one

  • The Article is wrongly mentioned, it should be the below link.
