Hi,
I am getting this error while trying a fresh SQL 2000 install on Windows 2003 Server.
"setup could not connect to the database to update cluster-specific information in the system tables" After this the Install just cleans up and comes out of the setup. Its a Active passive configuration
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Ajay

While Installing the SQL Server in the cluster, you have to create the alias name for both nodes. Like you should create the alias name for the SQL Server mapping the named instance name with the ipaddress of the machine. Then do the installation it should work.
Let me know if you have any problems along with the error number.

Thanks Santosh, I tried creating Alias using Client Network utility. Tried Named pipes as well as TCP/IP on both nodes without any luck. There are more messages on the Event log. please let me know if they make any sense.

There are more of these errors all related to missing registry information or message dll files.
Please suggest on what to do.
