I think the point is whether they come checking or not, lets say that you are sloppy with your licensing and some disgruntled employee (or former employee) calls them up. You are probably toast.

Do MS ever audit in the UK? Been in this game a while now and never know them to go a knocking....
My company got audited last year, and I live in a much more remote part of the world than the UK.

So the general opinion is I would need CAL's for the internal users and an external connector license for the external users...unless I use Server 2008 Web Edition to run the SQL database on?
