I installed SQL 2005 standard, and wanted to open up "SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio"
The coomputer could not find devenv.exe
Is "SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio" part of Visual Studio 2005?
Do I need Visual Studio 2005, in order to run the Business Intelligence Development Studio, and make packages
I am new to SQL 2005
Thanks in advance

It is not part of VS 2005, it is in your SQL Server CD under Management Tools, it is the second Management Studio in your SQL Server setup files. Copy the content to your hard drive and look for the Management tools setup. In Express it comes as part of the tool kit but you have to give up the Algebra engine to use it, that is to use both you need full SQL Server as you have. Hope this helps.

The features comparison link below shows you have some but not all the BI features so just rerun setup choose repair and when you get to choose components choose all. Hope this helps.

I finally got it to work!
I found the answer after doing a lot if searching:
You have to maunally run vs_setup.msi located on SQL Server 2005 CD 2 if devenv.exe was not installed

I have done all of the installation processes that I see in previous post but I still do not have Business Intelligence Projects listed under new projects.

If you have VS2005 installed go to tools customize and options to enable all the components you need to do BI development. Hope this helps.
