SQL Server Browser

    Can anyone please suggest about the purpose and use of the "SQL Server Browser"?

    In SQL Configuration Mgmt, I can see SQL Server Browser service...so how to work on the same? How does it help the SQL DBAs...?

    From Books Online...SQL Server Brower listens for incoming requests for Microsoft SQL Server resources and provides information about SQL Server instances installed on the computer.

    Have a look in Books Online for SQL Server Browser. It gives you a detailed description of what it does.
